WEITEK reduces prices for SPARC POWER µP

Award-Winning Chip from WEITEK Offers High-Performance Upgrade at a New Lower Price
Sunnyvale, CA. WEITEK Corporation (NASDAQ:WWTK) annouced that prices for the award-winning SPARC POWER uP
upgrade chip will be reduced by as much as 20%.
The retail price of the chip, which was $995, is now $795, a reduction of 20%. The price of the upgrade KIT,
which includes the chip plus all the tools required to install it, has been reduced from $1200 to $995.
Discounts are available for volume purchasers.
SPARC POWER uP gives users of Sun Microsystems' IPX or SPARCstation 2 workstations twice the CPU power at a
fraction of the cost of a new workstation. It is certified SPARC Compliant by SPARC International, and is
supported by SunService for their SunSpectrum Maintenance customers.
The latest price reductions are a result of manufacturing economies created by high volumes. "Demand has
been high, and we've been able to pass on to our customers the benefits of large-scale, long-run product
productions," commented John Vidal, WEITEK's Director of Marketing.
